Rotoscope Project: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

"If you succeed, more than one innocent life may be spared."

For this project, I really struggled at first with the idea of rotoscoping. Not understanding the idea of it at first, I was going to choose a scene from Big Hero 6. Once I learned it had to be a live action movie, I chose a scene from Mean Girls, but then that still seemed to complicated. Since the real key to rotoscoping is showing an action going on, I thought, why not choose a simple action scene from one of my favorite movies? That is when I finally decided on a movie:

After getting the idea down for what rotoscoping actually consisted of, I chose to base my rotoscoping on the scene where Hermione and Harry are hiding behind the pumpkin patch by Hagrid's hut in hopes of saving BuckBeak the Hippogriff.

Not really taking into account the whole "drawing on 2's or 3's" thing, I just draw all of my frames on 1's, thus the style incorporated as a final result. After hours and hours of tracing and refining the images, I present to you my final product:

The overall concept of rotoscoping made this project pretty interesting and is a new method I plan on exploring to practice on my animation skills this summer! I really enjoyed it:)
